Cost of Living
The cost of living in Canada is much lower than many countries in the United Kingdom and Europe and it is cheaper to live in a small urban community like Smiths Falls than in a large city.
More than half of a person's take-home pay will go to household expenses, which include:
- Heating and utilities
- Health Insurance
- Car Insurance
To put the cost of living in Smiths Falls into perspective, the following list provides the cost of various items:
- Housing: $56,500 to $335,000
- Rent: $575 to $1,300 per month
- Daycare: $7 before and after school per day per child to $39 for infant care
- Taxi: $9 per trip
- Meal in a restaurant: $12 to $25 per person
