Those looking to upgrade their skills have the choice of the following programs in Smiths Falls:

Adult Learning & Training Centre

ALTC (Lanark County) is a non-profit organization that provides a free and confidential literacy and basic skills program for adults in Lanark County and the Town of Smiths Falls. We focus on one to one or small group instruction in reading, writing, math, basic computer skills and work specific skills. We help adults reach their own goals, which may include things like:

If you need help with any of the work in your program, we have tutors who work one-on-one with you to help you as much as you need.

New Directions

If you are between the age of 55 and 64 in Lanark County and are not working, the counsellors at New Directions can assist and guide you if you need some assistance with literacy upgrading, high school completion or computer skills.

Skills Link

Open to youth with barriers to employment, Skills Link is a six-month program that runs five days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. An allowance equal to the provincial minimum wage is available to those who participate.
